Located about a mile up the creek from our Cottage, the Cabin is everything rustic you’d want in a cabin with all the comforts of home. Located just off Burks Fork Creek, near Buffalo Mountain in beautiful Willis (Floyd County), Virginia, this intimate cabin is secluded in the woods with all the comforts of home along with plenty of hiking, fishing and relaxation. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Floyd’s famous Buffalo Mountain are minutes away. Sit back and relax on the wraparound porch with a good book, a glass of wine or just enjoy the breeze. With great views and plenty of family-friendly activities, you’re next vacation home is ready. Remember, at Buffalo Mountain Getaway, ‘There’s no place like home, except here.’.
Getting here is half the fun!
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
- Cabin is located on the other side of a shallow stream.
- Low vehicles may not be able to pass without scraping. (Standard sedan, i.e. my personal Ford Fusion, crossed fine.)
- Owner NOT responsible for any vehicle damage.
Plenty of room to relax in the living room with two couches and an extra large chair. Flat screen television with DVD player and stereo are sure to keep you informed. For those cold days and nights, light a fire in the wood stove. There are two bar areas with seating and a full kitchen. The dining room, just off the living room area, includes log table with seating for four. Ready for a little something to drink? How about assorted coffee, tea and cocoa at our Keurig Brew Station? Or how about a nice glass of wine or sparking grape juice? Either way, we’ve got it covered!
The master bedroom has a full size cozy bed. Located just off the living room, it has it’s own separate entrance. There are two oversize twin beds in one half of the upstairs and two full beds in the other half and a sofa bed in the living room as well. Enjoy fresh linens and essentials for your stay.
Want to fish: The Burks Fork Creek is a stocked trout stream and is half mile from the cabin. If you want to fish in our pond, you’ll need to drive a little further down the road to our house. Just ask for directions.

The cabin was a nice getaway for us and friends! The location is beautiful and we traveled into Floyd for some shopping as well. There is plenty of space for everyone as the room upstairs has bunk beds and single beds. We’d love to go back when it’s warm enough to hike more in the area.

This little cabin in the woods was amazing! First of all, it was truly remote. It’s one of the most peaceful and quiet places I have ever rented. It had a wonderful deck where you could sit outside and look at the stars. I would highly recommend this place!

The house and the location were amazing. It really lives up to its name for sure. But I must have missed where it said that this was a “hunting club” house, so there are trophy animals filling the house which wasn’t a problem but just be aware! The house could have been a bit cleaner inside where there were crumbs on the couch and kitchen floor along with dog hair on the blankets. BUT beyond those small inconveniences I still decided to rate this house 5 stars because it was exactly what we needed for our little family getaway. We had an excellent time, the location is perfect if you’re looking for super seclusion away from the world where you can enjoy the sound of running water from the porch, and admire the beauty of the wilderness. Also it’s a bit of a small house but it sleeps a lot of people and it was perfect for our little family of 3. Well worth it. We would love to come back again soon!

Great place to stay to “get away”. Good Host with no issues. The cabin feels smaller than the pictures made it seem for a group of 5 adults and 5 kids, but large outdoor decks, trails and fire pit next to the creek provided plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors comfortably – which was the point of our stay. We enjoyed the privacy and enjoyed the restaurant at the Mill and Jim’s Diner when did venture out for a meal out.

Great secluded cabin. We stopped for the night while traveling down I-77. It’s a bit off the highway, but well worth it. Would also be a nice stop while traveling on the blue ridge parkway. We made it through the stream in the driveway in a fully loaded minivan and a Camry, just be careful. Very comfortable cabin with a babbling stream and a great fire circle. We highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay.

Cabin is exactly as it says and wonderful! Our kids enjoyed playing in the crick and making s’mores at the fire. Wish we had more time to stay and explore. Hope to be back in the future!

We wanted off the beaten track and that’s what we got. A lovely deck to sit on with the sound of a babbling brook in the background. The wild raspberries were an added bonus. Beyond the serenity of the place, we enjoyed hikes along the country roads. We hope to return.

This place was so beautiful! It’s in a very secluded area and gave us the peacefulness we were looking for. The cabin itself was nice and we loved the porch being fenced in with gates…that way we could sit outside with our dogs and not have to worry as much about them wondering off. The area around the cabin has a nice little creek and trails that my husband and son enjoyed exploring. We really appreciated the extra little things like the milk, orange juice, coffee and the use of their grill. It was a great experience and would love to come back soon!

If you never visited this area of Virginia, you should. Pat’s home is comfortable and beautiful! We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed more. It was a very enjoyable experience for the humans and the canine!

This cabin was the perfect getaway stay for me and my partner and our dogs! It was definitely off the beaten path, but offered plenty of outdoor hikes and adventures for us and the pups. I can’t recommend it enough for a getaway.
Cell service was weak (as noted), but the Wi-Fi in the cabin was perfect for getting ahold of family and friends.
Pat stocked the fridge and pantry with a few items and had clean towels and sheets ready for us. It made settling in a breeze! Not to mention, the place was immaculate. For being in the middle of the woods, we didn’t spot a bug or bit of dirt in the cabin when we arrived. Kudos to them for the upkeep!
I highly recommend this for a couple’s retreat or a small family looking to get away, disconnect, and hike a few trails. A must-see is the Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve. The views were phenomenal. Parking is limited to 10-12 cars, but if you arrive early you should be fine. We got there at 10am and we were the 2nd car. Leaving around 1, the lot started to fill up.

Pat’s cabin was the perfect choice for a few buddies and me to hangout and catch up on life. We arrived in the evening during the recent snowstorm and had quite an enjoyable stay watching the snowfall outside. Location is secluded with lots of nice amenities. Even with several inches of snow on the ground, my 4×4 Silverado made it through the woods and creek to the cabin without issue. Cabin is well furnished and would love to return to enjoy again the other aspects that we couldn’t due to the weather. Very picturesque!

We have a nice stay this past weekend. Great getaway surrounded by woods and a babbling brook. The one thing I will note is that you do have to drive over the brook/creek at one point on the driveway. So if you have a compact vehicle that’s low to the ground it can be cumbersome. But we managed to get over it just fine. Pat has coffee, milk/OJ, and cereal all laid out when you arrive which is really nice. The porch is probably the best part — so try to book during warmer months!

Pat was a wonderful host! The cabin is great. Very clean and accommodating. It’s in a beautiful spot. Lots of hikes and nature to take in. It’s just what our family needed. Everyday life wears you down and Off The Beaten Path is the place where you can relax and recharge for sure!

My husband and I visited with our two dogs and had a great time. The fenced in porch was awesome to sit outside.
Our GPS was accurate (we arrived from a different area than the written directions provided). Pat communicated timely when I had a question about the depth of the stream after some rain (it was fine!) Keurig and k-cups were provided as well as milk, orange juice, and cereal. Floyd was an easy drive away

What a delightful place! It was just what we were looking for. There are plenty of tools and space to cook and a full sized refrigerator. The porch was so relaxing to sit, swing, and listen to the creek. Beds were comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy. Nice big, fluffy towels. So many comfort details. If you ever get a chance to just hang out in Floyd on Friday evening, don’t miss it! …unless you hate food and music. We’ll be back!

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful place!
I slept in one of the beds upstairs, it was extremely comfortable.
Nice fire pit, bring extra chairs if you can if you want to be close to the fire.
Living room has two nice couches which was nice when we were inside, but you should spend as much time as you can on the lovely deck! Plenty of chairs!
Kitchen was stocked with several seasonings!
Driveway is wrap around so easy access when coming in and leaving. Plenty of rooms for multiple cars.
I drove a small car in, a Kia Rio. I did scrap a little by the creek, but it was fine and I didn’t scrap my car when leaving when I looked more closely. It really wasn’t an issue for a small car, but if you do have a vehicle with more clearance it would be nice. Also I am unsure how rain would impact this.
Overall I highly recommend!
