Description
There’s no place like home, except here!
Reach for the stars and stay in the clouds. The Pontificator’s Perch sits atop Slatemont Mountain, elevation 3274 feet. It’s a steep drive, but so worth the breathtaking views. Featuring a wrap around deck with a covered porch, it’s perfect for family and pets as well. You’ll want to enjoy some time on the porch to relax with your favorite book and beverage or head out to hike with your pet. Mabry Mill and Chateau Morrisette are just down the road and there is plenty of room to hike or just enjoy the country side.
The Pontificator’s Perch closes for winter from the end of November until the first of April each year. We do accept reservations in advance, so feel free to book your stay and we’ll see you then.
The living space, on the second floor, includes a unique slab dining table and plenty of windows. Enjoy the gas fireplace, or open all the windows for a steady breeze. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of utensils, plates, etc. Also, on the second level you’ll find our guest bedroom with a full/twin bunk and a 2nd full bath. The upper level hosts the master bedroom with a unique full size bed and full size bath. Enjoy your own deck, with table and chairs to enjoy your morning coffee or evening beverage. On the lower, entry level, there is plenty of room to stretch out in the family room, enjoy Netflix and Prime Video on a spacious sectional. It also includes a 3rd full bath and laundry.

Amazing view. Clean and the orange juice/milk was a really nice touch. Host communicates quickly and did I mention how amazing the view from either porch was?!! Will definitely be back for another visit. Hope Pat and family enjoyed the cookies we baked for them while we were there 🍪🍪🍪!!

The views were amazing! We loved the multiple decks and the fact that they have a gate on the deck to contain dogs/children from going down the steps. When you get on Blue Ridge Parkway, follow the directions provided, NOT YOUR GPS! GPS will take you a different route and will add time as well as frustration to your trip. The bed in the master is only a full size, so I do recommend them increasing it to at least a queen. I still give 5 starts because of the views and solitude.
