There’s no place like home, except here!
This is where it all began. Our Buffalo Mountain Getaway Cottage was the original home of Garver and Minnie Vaughn, our grandparents. The house was renovated into a comfy, cozy and peaceful home for our guests in 2015. We love the home and very much wanted to share our home with others. If you want to getaway, and need space for up to ten, then the cottage is the perfect location for you. Enjoy our front porch and watch the cattle, listen to the creek and enjoy the beautiful mountain views.
Want to fish: The Burks Fork Creek is a stocked trout stream and is across the road from the cottage. If you want to fish in our pond, you’ll need to drive a little further down the road to our house. Just ask for directions.

The house is so cute and comfortable, the pictures on the profile and great, but don’t do it justice. You’ll be blown away when you walk through the home, especially if you love your privacy. It’s truly a peaceful home away from home. Pat is a very thoughtful hostess, kind and communicative when you need her.

Meticulously maintained, wonderful cottage! Wish we could have stayed longer, but we were just passing through the area for the night. Our kids enjoyed our stay as well. Very comfortable home and Pat was very responsive to communication! Would love to stay here again!

This place is amazing getting up and watching the deer at the edge of the field grazing and climbing the hill. There was rain the first couple of days but sitting on the porch watching the clouds go up hall Hill was really relaxing.

It was a nice house no complains from the inside so cozy and kid friendly my kids loved it and played outside a little before we left. but there was a road closed and we took about an hour to find how to get thetr and on the way out the same thing happened we were going in circles and had to ask a local to help us get out because the road was closed. At night it is scary to drive to and what made it worse was roads were closed so i advise if you come dont get there after dark. We got there at 3am because of all the confusion driving and roads closed and because we are not from here used the gps(although it says dont use it) we are not from here so we felt it better especialy it being night, also because we were not from here we didnt do the speed limit so the time went so slow and it takes twice as long to get there. Then we had to leave at 11 wish we couldve stayed till 12 to enjoy a little more but was not able due to “other guest” coming.

This is one of the most beautiful places we have stayed. We loved how spacious it felt inside and outside of the house. We all had the same response when we walked in and was greeted with how quaint and rustic it is. I, personally, appreciated how clean everything was. If I were going to give one piece of advice it would only be to offer more pots and pans in the kitchen. Definitely advice!! It is impossible to critique this beautiful house.

Perfect getaway! We only stayed over night since we were passing through but we were very sad to leave! So peaceful and quiet. Lots of area for kids to have fun and explore! We will definitely be back!

What a tranquil, peaceful, remote spot! I always think it’s a good sign when your last turn gets you onto a gravel road. The home has lots of cute decorating touches and plenty of beds.
If you like to walk or run, the road in front of the house had almost no traffic and lovely views.
The top floor is two adjourning bedrooms. Two nice bedrooms and a bath are among the rooms on the main floor, and there are a couple beds + a bath in the basement.
It was so cool to drive up and see cows right there in the back fenced-in field behind/beside the house, along with a tractor. (And if you are like me and wondering about smell, that wasn’t an issue at all when we were there). So nice to be in the countryside! We really enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening and watching the fireflies, and then again sitting on the porch drinking coffee in the morning while we looked out across the other field toward the mountain. We will be back if we come this way again.

This is a lovely house with plenty of sleep space. Very nice. We stayed one night for a road trip, but would have loved to stay longer. Loved sitting on porch watching all the lightning bugs.

This home is a wonderful destination. Set within the hills you enjoy lovely views of the hills of Virginia.
All of the beds were very comfortable and the house was perfectly clean.
It was very nice to have milk and juice included.
I highly recommend this home.

We had a great stay. The house was very comfortable and we really appreciated the kitchen equipped with cooking supplies and condiments – we were able to prepare our dinner easily. The location is somewhat remote but very beautiful and peaceful.

I don’t want to let the secret out, but this place is a gem. We’ve stayed here multiple times. The cottage is spacious and sweet, and the surroundings are beyond gorgeous. It’s so clean inside that I felt comfortable laying on the bedroom rug to do my exercises, and I cannot say that about many Airbnbs! The hosts are communicative, helpful and very kind. You won’t regret booking this place!

Amazing tranquility. Great views from porch. Sitting on front porch with gentle breeze reconnecting with family I had not seen in years soaking in the beautiful views of moon rise over Buffalo Mountain was best part of summer. What a value to have it sleep 10!! Out of the way but great wifi, AC, etc. fantastic part of Virginia. Thanks

Buffalo Mountain Cottage was exactly as described; plenty of room for the 6 of us who stayed there and space for more if we’d had needed it. Comfortable furnishings and although we did not cook, the kitchen was well supplied. Thoughtful touches such as milk, O.J. and coffee pods were much appreciated. The directions supplied were exact down to the tenth of a mile and despite cottage being a little off the beaten path, it was very easy to find. And the view from the front porch was gorgeous!

This was a lovely place to stay; quiet, secluded, and like staring at home away from home! The house was very clean and we had plenty of room to spread out and still be comfortable. Our host, Pat, was so very welcoming when we arrived, and it was neat to witness the quiet, daily chores of a working farm. There’s plenty of fishing and hiking opportunities, as well. We look forward to returning for another stay in the future!

Pat is an amazing host! I will def be staying here again! It’s very peaceful and quiet. But there isn’t a lot of cell service, if you are looking to relax and enjoy being out on the porch, or having a small fire with family, this place is perfect! Thank you Pat!

Fantastic stay. The farm feels like “the middle of nowhere,” but that’s certainly part of the charm… and the intent. If you want to get away from it all, this place is perfect. Stunning view from the front porch, fantastic decor throughout the house, SUPER clean and cozy, and incredibly welcoming. I wish we had more time to stay.
